Jakson Lights up Historical Event at Gangteng Monastery in Bhutan
One of the holiest Buddhist sites in the world is the Gangteng Monastery in Bhutan, the exquisite and unspoiled kingdom hidden high in the Himalayas. The Monastery is the center and focus of the whole valley, very isolated through its high altitude.
Giving shape to its social responsibility, Jakson lighted up this monastery- A 500 year old treasure of Bhutanese culture - with a Silent DG Set. This DG Set was presented as a gift to the monastery to carry their historical fest. This historical fest exhibits archived relics-some 3000 years old. These relics had not been shown in 100 years. They were on display for 2 days and again stored away into the archives for the next 100 years to come.
The light provided by the genset gave a great opportunity to the community for extended hours of viewing the relics. His Majesty, Gangteng Trulku Rinpoche, all dignitaries, guests from around the world and the community, were able to see a well lit exhibition of ancient relics.
It was a moment of contentment for Jakson to receive appreciation from the monastery as there was immense excitement among the monks and locals. Many monks had traveled days to be part of this Bhutanese historical event. We were further filled with reverence to recognize that the entire work of the extensive rebuild of the monastery was donated by the monks and personal labor of the entire community- 8 ½ long devoted years in all.
